- ML
- Million litres. One ML equals 10 lakh litres or 1,000 cubic metres. Lake storage on this dashboard is shown in ML.
- MLD
- Million litres per day. Used to describe how much water a lake or treatment plant can supply each day.
- MCM
- Million cubic metres. Often used on regional dam pages. One MCM equals 1,000 ML.
- LDL
- Lowest drawable level. If a lake falls below this level, BMC counts no usable storage until water rises again.
- Useful live storage
- The volume of water above the minimum level that can actually be drawn for supply. This is what Mumbai's % full figures are based on.
- % full
- Useful live storage as a percentage of the lake's designed supply capacity. A higher number means more water available for the city.
- YoY
- Year on year. Compares today's storage with the same calendar date in a previous year to show whether the monsoon is ahead or behind.
- 24h change
- How much the water level rose or fell in the last 24 hours, based on the latest daily bulletin.
- Monsoon season total
- Rainfall recorded at the lake from the start of the monsoon season up to the report date, in millimetres (mm).
- BMC
- Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. Publishes the official daily lake level report for Mumbai's seven supply lakes.
- WRD
- Maharashtra Water Resources Department. Publishes daily storage reports for dams across the state.
- NMMC
- Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation. Publishes rainfall and level bulletins for Morbe Dam, which supplies parts of Navi Mumbai.
- MMR
- Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The greater Mumbai area including sister cities such as Thane, Navi Mumbai, and Kalyan-Dombivali.
